Review: Kimage School of Hairdressing

Pic taken from: http://www.kimage.com.sg/school/facility.asp

This is a review on the services provided by Kimage School of Hairdressing... it was my first experience with them and I would say, it would be my last too. This place was recommended by a local magazine for their cheap services.

All services are done by trainees... means they are hairstyling students. So I wouldn't be expecting much.

The service I tried today was a simple hair treatment. I thought nothing could go wrong. But I was sooo sooo wrong :(

My Rating

I called up on Tuesday to make an appointment for Friday evening. Upon answering my call, the lady on the line sounded as if she was in a hurry to end my call. She hastily asked for my name, which service I would like to have and the time. The call was over in less than 30 seconds. Talk about being "efficient". She wasn't polite either.

Receptionist: 2/5

I was led to my seat and it took 10 minutes to get a student to attend to me. She was a 40-ish lady... with very strong fingers. OMG. This was the first time I felt like I was getting a face lift together with a hair wash! I had to clench my jaw as she lathered the shampoo in. She was being so rough with my hair :( after 10 mintues of intense lathering, she asked in typical Singlish: "Not pain ah?" I was like... YES IT IS! After which she was gentle for like 5 mintues or so... then she led me to have the shampoo rinsed out. I guess afew strands of hair didn't make it through her tugging. :(

Hair wash:1/5

I've tried the products used in this treatment before. It is by Matrix, Biolage. Quite a low-end salon line in my opinion. The treatment went OK, just that she wasn't too careful during application of the ampoule. She dripped some on my satin skirt :( and left strands of hair (with treatment on) touching my face. Argh! And what is a treatment without the steaming part?? She just left the treatment on and rinsed it off within 20 minutes. I could have done that at home too!

Treatment: 2/5

The most horrible part of the whole experience. She really had no idea how to blow curls in my hair. Seriously, I think many Youtube Gurus could have done a much better job than her even without having to attend hairstyling school. Firstly, she had done a center parting instead of my usual side parting. Next, she tugged so hard at my hair while trying to blow the curls in :( She also used the wrong brush, making my curls really fluffy. I looked like a character from The Lion King. Lastly, she gave up in the end (it was near closing time), leaving my hair slightly damp when I left the salon. It was really disappointing.

Blow: 1/5

Verdict:

All in all, it was a really bad experience and I wasted 2 hours of my time there. I left the place with my scalp feeling tender. Even though it was $23 (after 10% discount) for a treatment, I would still pay the full amount to get it done at a more relaxing salon and in half the time.

I went home to wash out her blowing and put on some leave in treatment on my poor tortured hair.

Review: Essential Damage Care Treatment

From the pamphlet:

The last 15cm of hair is most prone to damage by colouring, perming, rebonding, styling and blow-drying. The result- hair becomes dry and frizzy with tangles and split ends.

More info at sassykawaii.com

Ingredients list:

This would be my first time trying out their Treatment. Previously, I was using Tsubaki's Hair Treatment which I love and would repurchase when I finish Essential's Treatment.

I have tried Asience's Treatment...and instead of making my hair better, it made the ends of my hair even dryer!!! Left them with split ends :( SOB! So try at your own risk ladies. D:

On to the review!

Pros:
  • Smells great!
  • Cheap! Less than SGD$10!
  • Formula is not thin and runny
  • Washes off easily without the slimey feeling left on your body
Cons:
  • Can't think of any right now!
  • Hmm... maybe that the scent doesn't last long after i blow dry my hair?
I went on sasa.com and found out that they are selling it for US$6.20! So if anyone would like to purchase this product, here's the link for your convenience! :)

Buy me! <3

What was I thinking?!

I was browsing through my makeup collection the other day... looking for inspiration on what to write on next. And I've decided to pick out an item to talk about.

This is one product I regret spending money on...

Seriously! Why did I even buy this?!

It's a matte, red eyeshadow. Geez... I've never used it since the day I got it! Hahaa... I've tried mixing it with clear lip balm to use as a stain...still it was too red for my liking :(

Maybe I could dress up as a Geisha for Halloween? Hahaha..

She did a really good job at replicating the look on her nails! Even though the collection doesn't include a nail polish set :p

  5. Lunasol Full Glamour Lips S in 19

Gosh the damage! Looks like I'll be going on a lippie diet for a while now! With only a pair of lips, why would I need so many?! D: It's tough being a girl ain't it? Hahaha...

On to the swatches!!

Swatches of the glosses:

Above: Coffret D'or Combient Rouge in 02
Below: Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss in 03

Left to right: Full Glamour Lips G 10, Full Glamour Lips G 05, Full Glamour Lips S 19, Combient Rouge 02

Haul from last week!
Christian Dior Lip Maximizer... I liked the finish of the gloss. But I don't really like the scent of this lip product. I prefer my lip products to be unscented. This smelt like vanilla with mint. The gloss left my lips tingly for about half and hour before it subsided. I will continue to use this product just for the plumping effect.

Comes out colourless.

For those of you who love Jill Stuart! I got this quite a while back! Now, even though I said I dislike my lip glosses to be scented, this scent is tolerable! Smells kinda fruity! :)

Comes out a clear pink :) no shimmer.

Other random stuff I got, Garnier Aqua Defense Roll On! I like how cooling it feels on my skin. I noticed my eye area getting abit dry. Must be those late nights! So I got this to try. The Olay White Radiance Eye Serum gave me milia :(

Roller ball!
Rolls on a clear gel...

Absorbed nicely into the skin. No stickiness!

To end my post, here is a peak at what's in my lippie drawer!

:)

Hey girls! Sorry for my absence... did you miss me? Hahaa! I've been super busy with preps for my mid-semester test! :( It was a really lousy paper. But anyway! It's over!

I would like to share this great website with all of you! This is one website which I go to for inspiration..hehe.. especially for the very pretty Japanese hairstyles!

See what I mean? These are just 2 of the hairstyles which I would like to have... Will be letting my hair grow out till December, then I'll head down to my favourite Japanese Stylist (Icon-Shunji Matsuo) to get the style replicated :p Hopefully I would be able to take pics of my hair then :)

They also have a section on Gel Nails and nail art! I love gel nails! I've tried doing them on my own... it is very pretty but is a pain to remove :(

Soooo pretty! <3 Makes me feel like getting my nails done up again! :( but I have Noooo time :( all thanks to school..boo!

Awards from BellaChic <3 (I'm abit late on this)

Eva from BellaChic has awarded me 2 blog awards! Thank you sweetie!! Sorry I took so long to post this :p

I'm supposed to post 10 things about myself...So here it goes!!

  1. I started loving makeup since I was 16. My first makeup item was a lipgloss from Lipice from my local drugstore Watsons. It had menthol in it... and I hated it. Hahaa... From then on, whenever I saw the word 'Menthol' in lipgloss, I will never purchase them.
  2. I have naturally frizzy and wavy hair. I have rebonding my hair since I was 17! Only recently I have been trying to embrace my waves. I permed the lower half of my hair, trying to blend my nautral waves in...which is a great idea by my hairstylist as it is less damaging than rebonding.
  3. I love cute animals! I have 5 birds at home :) and have kept many hamsters in the past...but they are all in hammy heaven now :(
  4. I love the word 'collagen' and 'hydrating'... haha! Any skincare with those words, and I'm sold.
  5. I used to have 30 blushers at my peak of makeup collecting! D: Now I have about 10.
  6. I love cute plush toys! I collect them <3>
  7. I love dance. I've tried Latin Ballroom, Salsa and now ballet!
  8. I love to eat desserts, cakes, muffins and sugary stuff! But I never like eating sweets!?!
  9. I love making jewellery. :D I have a stash of beads and chains at home. But since I started school + work, I have no time to make them anymore :(
  10. I love art, beauty related subjects. But I'm a Science student. HAHA...wonder what am I doing there. :p

PS: I've just posted another blogsale! This time I'm selling hair and skincare items! Lots of hydrating/ whitening serums up for grabs! Including Paul & Joe's Whitening Emulsion!! Do check my blogsale! Thank you sweeties!!

Dior Haul + Drugstore palette <3

Here is my haul for the week!

  • Dior Addict High Shine in 352 Champagne Blush
  • Dior Addict High Shine in 346 Sensation Coral
  • Dior Skinflash in 002 Candle light
  • L'oreal Open Eyes Palette in Cocoa

Champagne Blush (left) is a light pink with gold micro shimmers.

Sensation Coral (right) is a coral with a little bit of silver micro shimmer. Not as much shimmer as Champagne Blush.

Can't wait to try them all out!

Skinflash in 002. I find this suitable for fair complexions. NC15-25. Any darker it might give the reverse raccoon effect in photos! I read review on makeupalley.com that it gives a really ethereal glow to the skin. I mainly got this to use on the inner corners of my eyes and on my dark circles. There is little coverage as it is meant to be a highlighter, so I will try pairing this with the Diorskin Nude concealer which I recently got.

L'oreal recently released 4 new eyeshadow palettes at my drugstore. Had to pick one up!! The shimmers in the palettes are reallllly pretty! I was looking for a brown palette, so I chose the one in Cocoa shade. I thought it reminded me of this Lunasol palette...

Could be the lighting, but I thought the palettes looked really similar in real life. Haha, oh well, you pay for what you get :)

I'm waiting to get the Dior Lip Maximizer on Sunday. Will post reviews/ swatches of the lippies in a later post.

Have a good weekend everyone!
